Question

Customer wants the old oil tank left in the basement after the gas conversion

Service tech, Union City. Finishing a conversion next week in a two-family in Weehawken. Customer wants the 275 gallon oil tank in the basement just left there, empty, "for later." Then he tells me the home inspector on another house he's buying found a buried tank in the yard during the tank sweep, and the seller says "it was abandoned years ago." Boss is out till Monday and I'm bad at talking to customers lol. What do I tell him on both? I know we don't do tank work, I just don't want to sound like an idiot.

CO meter went off before I hit the bottom of the basement stairs

service call in a 4-family in union city, water heater "making a smell." basement door was shut. my CO meter started going off before i got to the bottom of the stairs. flue pipe had come apart at the chimney. got out, got the tenants out of the first floor, called the gas company from the sidewalk. they shut it down. the super was mad at ME lol. 4 years in and never had my meter go off like that. how many of you actually carry one, and actually turn it on?

Question

4 years in and the license on the van isn't my boss's. do my hours count?

Service tech, 4 years, shop in Union City. Found out last month the master license on the trucks belongs to my boss's uncle. Uncle is retired in Florida lol. Boss runs everything. Starting to think about the master down the road. Do my 4 years even count if the guy who actually supervised me isn't the licensed one? Not trying to get anybody in trouble. Just don't want to find out in 3 more years that none of it counts.

Customer called the office and asked for me by name

4 years in, running service on my own in Hudson. I'm not a talker. Customers usually ask for my boss or the other guy, the one who can talk to anybody. Today the office said a lady in Weehawken called back for a second job and asked for "the quiet one who explained the water heater." Small thing. Made my week. The explanation was me drawing on a piece of cardboard because I'm better at that than talking lol.
