Deptford here, 15 minutes away. Plenty of shops. Does he want benefits from day one, or is he okay with cash to start? I did three years of cash and wouldn't do it again. Appreciate you looking out for him.

Did a flooded crawlspace in Deptford after the August storms. Didn't think twice about the cord. I will now. Appreciate it.

Question

Starting at a new shop Monday after 3 years at the cash place. What should I bring?

Took Rui's advice from my cash-pay thread. Lined up a new shop in Pitman before I gave notice, left on good terms, start Monday. Real payroll, they do service and boilers, five minutes off 55. Three years in, but I've never started somewhere new as anything but a kid. What do I bring day one? My own tools or wait and see? And how do I handle it if they treat me like a first-year when I'm not?

Question

Homeowner pulled his own permit and wants us to do the work under it

Started at a new shop a few weeks ago, Gloucester County, service and repipes. Better place, actually sends me to school. Today a homeowner in Washington Township told my boss he'd already pulled the plumbing permit himself to "save money" and just wanted us to do the work. Boss said no and walked away from a decent job. Is that a real rule or is my boss being stubborn? Can a homeowner even pull a plumbing permit in NJ? And if he can, why can't a licensed shop just work under it?
