One-pipe steam system in a Garfield two-family that hasn't heated right since the owner's father died. We're replacing vents, skimming the boiler, and fixing pitch on a couple of runs in a basement with 6 feet of headroom on a good day. Saturday, 7am. Day rate. If you've never seen steam, this is how you learn it, kid: in a dirty basement with somebody who's done it for 28 years. That's the job.
