Ranked low twice, got in on the third try. Ask me whatever

Asked by NorthJerseyCopper · Sep 21

UA Local 24, first year. I ranked low my first two times. Third time I got the call. I see a lot of people on here worried about their ranking, so ask me what you want. I can only tell you what happened to me. I don't know how anyone else's local runs. Between tries I worked for a service and drain shop in Fair Lawn.

This is the most useful kind of post. One thing for everyone reading: his third interview went better because he had specifics. Bring two or three real jobs you can describe start to finish, including something you got wrong and fixed. Panels remember that. Stay safe.

Good for you, kid. Third try means you wanted it. Most people quit after one. That's the job.

For anyone wondering whether to bring up a third try: they knew. I said it before they could. Then I said what I did differently each year.

Good post. My father used to say the second time you knock, they know your face. The third time they know your name.

Local 1 first year here. Got in my first try but I'll be honest, a lot of luck in that lol. Respect for going three times.

Since the first thing everyone asks is what changed: the interview. I had real jobs to talk about the third time. Before that I had nothing. And yes, I retook the test each time. Idk if that's required everywhere, ask the program directly.

My foreman on weekends says nobody looks at your grades in the interview. True? Or is he just saying that because his were bad lol

Idk about grades. Nobody asked me about mine in any of the three.
