What was your first no-heat call like?

Asked by NorthJerseyCopper · Sep 21

Shop just put the winter emergency list on the board and my name is on it with a journeyman starting in November. Mostly service and drain work up to now, Fair Lawn and around. Not scared exactly. idk. Curious what your first one was like, the real version. Was it the boiler, the customer, or just being tired?

So this one time in AC... ok it was Haddonfield, not AC lol. 3am, lady swearing the heat was broken. house had two thermostats and she was turning up the one for the AC. check what's actually calling for heat before you open anything

Cold, tired, and somebody's grandmother watching you work. You'll be fine, kid. Take the customer seriously, take the call seriously, and call your lead before you guess. That's the job.
