Tip from a proPlumbing

To the kids who ranked low this summer

Asked by oldsteam_zig · Aug 14

Saw a few of you beating yourselves up over a number. Here's what I tell my own helpers. A ranking is one morning of your life. It doesn't know whether you show up, whether you listen, or whether you can carry a 50-gallon heater up a split-level's stairs without banging the drywall. Go get a job with somebody who'll teach you. Learn to solder, learn to read a boiler, learn to talk to a homeowner without making her nervous. Then apply again with something to say. I've hired plenty of kids who never got into anything, and they're running service calls on their own now. Don't quit on it. That's the job.
