Quit the Bronx shop today. Two weeks' notice, no drama

Asked by groundrod_05 · Sep 15

Two years at a non-union shop in the Bronx while I wait on the list. The last few months a lot of things got unsafe, and I'll leave it at that. I gave two weeks' notice this morning, thanked the owner for the two years, and that was it. Starting at a shop in Queens that does commercial fit-outs next month. My mentor told me to leave clean and never say a bad word about them publicly, so that's all I'll say. Mostly posting because I've been nervous about this for a month.

Two weeks and a thank-you. You'd be surprised how many guys can't manage that. The owner will remember it when somebody calls him for a reference, and somebody always does.
