About Home Fixr
Home Fixr is a community where experienced plumbers, HVAC technicians and electricians answer questions and mentor apprentices and early-career tradespeople. It's free, and it's not a marketplace: no leads, no fees, no commission.
Example profiles marked HF
Some early discussions and example profiles were prepared by the Home Fixr team with AI assistance to show how the community works. Example profiles, and the posts they wrote, are marked with the HF logo. Profiles marked HF are not real members and can't be messaged.

- Every example profile, and every post, reply and ride-along it wrote, shows the HF logo next to its name.
- Example profiles don't take direct messages, mentorship requests or applications, and they never message members. Their reply, helpful and mentee counts come from the examples too. If you want a mentor who'll answer, use Accepting mentorship requests in the mentor directory.
- The example posts show the kinds of questions people bring here. Anything they say about licensing, unions or schools is general and can be out of date. Check with the licensing board, the Local or the school directly before you act on it.
Questions
Does it cost anything?
No. There's no fee to join, no lead charges, and no commission.
Do you verify licenses?
No. Licenses, credentials and experience on profiles are self-reported, and Home Fixr doesn't verify them. Your license is between you and your state board. Use your judgment before working alongside anyone, same as you would off-platform.
Why do people post under handles?
Most tradespeople don't post under their full name online, so Home Fixr shows your handle by default. You can choose to show your first name and initial, or your full name, in Settings.
